Tecnimont
considers the health, safety and security of people, installations and offices,
as well as environmental protection, as the highest corporate priorities and an
integral part of its overall business objective.
In
accordance with its corporate HSSE policy, Tecnimont has developed and
implemented a corporate HSSE Management System throughout the organisation,
covering all aspects of the business. The system conforms to applicable ISO and
OHSAS standards, the principles of sustainable development and promotes
strongly the prevention of incidents rather than having to react to the
consequences.
Tecnimont
applies its HSSE vision during all design, construction and commissioning
activities. In doing this it takes into account the safety of both the designed
plant and the people working during construction and commissioning phases as
well as during subsequent production and maintenance activities.
Dedicated
roles and responsibilities have been developed to ensure compliance with
Tecnimont's HSSE policy in design, procurement, construction and other
activities by issuing procedures tailored for each project.
The
procedures define targets and responsibilities for each department involved in
the execution of each HSSE analysis or review, as well as the standard criteria
to be adopted in connection with all aspects of HSSE.
Specific
safety key performance indicators (KPIs) are monitored and measurable HSE
targets are set for each construction site.
The
HSSE awareness of employees is of paramount importance in the success of a
project. Therefore a HSSE incentive programme was launched involving all
Tecnimont employees operating on sites. The programme promotes incident and
accident prevention through the reporting and immediate correction of all
potentially unsafe conditions that may lead to an incident. Awards are made
every six months to the employees who rank first and second in the scheme.
During
its operations, Tecnimont is committed to comply with all applicable HSSE laws
and regulations; with internal guidelines and standards; and with applicable
and sustainable good management practices and best available techniques. This
commitment results in the strong continuous reduction of environmental effects
and of natural resources consumption.
